Some 1000 or more pastors, church leaders and church members from all over the country will gather in Baguio City this April 14-17, 2009 for the convention. The theme for this year is “The Unchanging Christ and the Unshakeable Kingdom” This is in response to the world’s situation now. Also, we will have some of our very own local speakers which everybody will love to hear and be ministered unto. We are very happy that our dear Gov. His wife, Madame Betty Nantes will also be speaking at the women’s rally. During our last night, we will have a mini-concert of our best Foursquare artists together with the Revelation Band.

Let us come open and ready to receive from God whatever He has planned for us during this week. Our prayer is, “Lord, have your way as we allow you to touch us afresh with your mighty power”

MESSAGE FROM THE FOURSQUARE PRESIDENT: NATIONAL CONVENTION 2009

Dear Ones,

Greetings to all! May this letter find you well and blessed!

We are sending you, together with this letter, our convention information which will help us in our budget preparation for our convention this year in Baguio City. We will be praying for you that the Lord will abundantly bless you and meet all your needs for the convention.

We apologize for the delay in sending you this important information concerning the housing information during the National Convention in Baguio City on April 14-17, 2009. It is important to make your reservation this early, with the hotels and pension houses. For school accommodation, make your reservation with Ptr. Sam Pinzon, his mobile number is 0917-9044098.

Also, we are printing a convention souvenir yearbook where our convention program, as well as, our national and district reports will be printed. As part of our drive to be able to help our convention financially, we are asking the church, districts, individual members, and friends to subscribe to this souvenir program. All proceeds will go the convention expenses. This is going to be a different yearbook as we usually have in the past. And we are hoping and praying that you are able to help us with this project.

The month of April is a peak season for Baguio as many tourist and visitors would spend their summer vacation there, so it is expected that most of the hotels and pension houses will be booked and reserved. With this, it would be wise for us to call the hotels and send your down payment to be assured of a room accommodation.

Despite the financial crisis prevailing in the land, let us continue to keep our trust in the Lord as He is the Sovereign Lord over all things and situations.

With our love and prayers!

PASTOR VAL C. CHAVES
President - CFGP

Holiday Pay

Chapter III (Labor Code of the Philippines)
HOLIDAYS, SERVICE INCENTIVE LEAVES AND SERVICE CHARGES

Art. 94. Right to holiday pay.

  1. Every worker shall be paid his regular daily wage during regular holidays, except in retail and service establishments regularly employing less than ten (10) workers;
  2. The employer may require an employee to work on any holiday but such employee shall be paid a compensation equivalent to twice his regular rate; and
  3. As used in this Article, "holiday" includes: New Year’s Day, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, the ninth of April, the first of May, the twelfth of June, the fourth of July, the thirtieth of November, the twenty-fifth and thirtieth of December and the day designated by law for holding a general election.
===================================================================

Hi, readers! As you know, 3 days ung holidays natin ngayong week na to: April 9 (Thursday) na minove ng Monday, Maunday Thursday on the same date, at saka ung Good Friday sa April 10. These are regular holidays as per Proclamation No. 1699, thus, we are entitled to 200% compensation. The next question is: Babayaran ba ako kung hindi ako papasok? Sagot: Oo, pero 100% lang. In other words, yong regular rate mo lang that day ang bayad sau. Sa case na to, babayaran ka ng 800 instead of 1,600 pesos. Eh pano kung ung regular holiday na yon ay rest day ko? May additional compensation ba? Wala, kung hindi mo papasukan. 100% of your daily wage pa din. Kung papasukan mo naman, makakatanggap ka ng 30% ng 200% ng sweldo mo. Sa kasong to, magiging 30% of 1,600 + 1,600 = 480 + 1,600 = 2,080 pesos. Ang laki din, sayang kung hindi papasukan. Sa isang araw lang yan. Eh may 3 regular holidays tau this week. Klaradong-klarado po yan sa batas natin (Article 94b ng Chapter 3, Labor Code of the Philippines).

For employees like me, maging mapagmatyag po tau sa mga payslips natin. Baka naman mamaya eh inaabuso na tayo. Maganda na rin ung alam natin ung mga provisions ng labor code. Sa mga employers, sana naman po ay sumunod tayo sa mga itinatadhana ng batas. Yon lang po.
