Kim Jong-il, the Supreme Leader of North Korea who is popularly known among the North Koreans as Dear Leader, died on 17 December 2011 as announced by the government. He died due to heart attack while traveling by train outside the capital city of Pyongyang. His funeral is scheduled on December 28.
