Sometimes, it's hard for us to accept the reality that we need other people; we need companionship. Perhaps we see ourselves as strong as a lighthouse tower built in an isolated island. We try to hide the ache that is brought about by the unsatisfied longings we experience in our relationships--longings that we look for through people whom we consider important in our lives. The reality still remains though: People will not always satisfy us. There are times that we just cry in the corner because of unexplainable feelings we feel. We don't exactly know the reason behind it. Our loved ones may disappoint us, the very people whom we are expecting that would lift us up and encourage us in times of trouble. We are just left confused. Instead of running to God, we run away from Him. We try to ignore to face the reality. We are afraid. We immediately dig our own wells, which, we think would somehow satisy any thirstiness that we have in our hearts. We party hard; we drink too often. We cling into different relationships; we spend most of our time to work. All of these seem to satisfy us, at least temporarily, but we miss the point: we still lack something.
Lord, may we feel Your unconditional love for us. In times of distress and loneliness, give us comfort. With all the burdens we are carrying upon our shoulders, unload these things for us and give us strength. Give us the courage to face the internal realities of life in this fallen world. Help us to realize that people will not always satisfy our longings of our souls. "Come , you who are all weary and heavily burden, and I will give you rest," You said. It is only in You where we could find rest.
