Fishkill in Batangas
Fishermen in Batangas lost around P33 million pesos due to a massive fishkill in Taal Lake. According to government estimate, around 355 tons of fish died due to oxygen depletion. I remember my biology subject in high school when my teacher told us that too much water lilies in the rivers and other bodies of water will suffocate the fish. Hehehe!
The local government is now calling for assistance from the national government how to dispose the dead fish properly to avoid diseases that might bring by these incident.
Although the local government is assuring the public that fish available in the market for public consumption is safe, I cannot help myself but avoid buying and eating fish since last week.
