Dr. Michael Tan will assume his new responsibility as the new University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Chancellor effective tomorrow, March 1 after seven of 10 members of the Board of Regents (BOR), the highest policy-making body of the University of the Philippines, voted in favor of him.
Dr. Tan serves as the College Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (Kolehiyo ng Agham Panlipunan at Pilosopiya). He is a medical anthropologist and has a bi-weekly forum in Philippine Daily Inquirer, the Pinoy Kasi.
As a Chancellor, he will directly report to Pres. Alfredo Pascual, the President of the University of the Philippines System.
