MUSLIM WOMEN KILLED IN MAGUINDANAO MASSACRE AND ISLAMIC TEACHINGS

Out of the 57 people killed in Maguindanao, 36 were female and 21 were male. Sixty-three (63%) of women were brutally murdered including Genalyn Mangudadatu, wife of Buluan town Vice Mayor Ismael "Toto" Mangudadatu, Eden Mangudadatu, municipal vice mayor of Mangudadatu and the two female lawyers Cynthia Onqueda and Connie Brizuela. It is worthy to note that majority of the convoy members were female, and Vice-Mayor Esmael Mangundadatu himself did not go with them. I think the gubernatorial candidate decided to have women filed his certificate of candidacy because he knew that more likely, Muslim rebels and other Muslim "criminals" will not "touch" them for a simple reason: Islam gives a high regard for Muslim women. However, according to Department of Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera, “Even the private parts of the women were shot at. It was horrible. It was not done to just one. It was done practically to all the women. All the women had their zippers undone. The pants of some were pulled down... We have yet to determine whether they were raped. But it is certain that something bad was done to them.”

This made me wonder why such bestiality took place in a Muslim area. According to the Quran, the central religious text of Islam, women are equal to men before God. In a website dedicated to issues relating to women in the Muslim world, here's what it says about how men should treat Muslim women:
Narrated Mu'awiyah al-Qushayri: I went to the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) and asked him: "What do you say (command) about our wives?" He replied: "Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them." (Sunan Abu Dawud: Book 11, Number 2139).
"None but a noble man treats women in an honourable manner. And none but an ignoble treats women disgracefully". (At-Tirmithy).
If the prepetrators are really Muslims, ones who submit to the will of Allah, they should first and foremost, adhere to Muhammad's (considered to the last Prophet of Allah) admonition: "Treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers."

Otherwise, they belong to certain elite groups in the government who are just hungry for power.
